A well-established public practice firm in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Tax Manager or Principal to lead and build its tax function. This role is suited for an experienced tax professional looking for ownership, influence, and a defined path to Partner within a stable, growing firm.
The Role:
You will take responsibility for building and leading the firm’s tax department. This includes setting structure, processes, and standards, as well as growing the team over time. You will work closely with the existing partners and have discretion in how the tax practice is developed and scaled.
This position is intended for someone ready to operate at a Principal or non-equity Partner level, with a clear and realistic pathway to equity partnership.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the firm’s tax practice, primarily serving private owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals
- Provide technical oversight on complex tax matters, planning, and compliance
- Review tax engagements and maintain quality and consistency across files
- Build, mentor, and manage a tax team
- Maintain senior-level client relationships and act as a trusted advisor
- Contribute to firm strategy and long-term growth alongside the partners
Requirements:
- 10+ years of public practice tax experience
- CPA designation required
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Program or a Master’s in Tax
- Strong technical foundation in Canadian tax
- Experience reviewing work and leading client relationships
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability
Compensation & Structure:
- Base salary: $160,000 – $180,000
- Bonus eligibility
