The Opportunity
Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team for a 20-month contract, with a strong focus on sales support, order entry, and accounts receivable. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well with both numbers and people, and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting activities while also interacting closely with sales, production, and customers to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders, invoices, and related documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Data Processing
- Post accounts receivable transactions, including invoices and credit memos
- Enter and post production orders, production logs, delivery notes, and inventory transactions
- Process sales orders, inventory transfers, and inventory revaluations
- Maintain accurate and timely financial and operational data
Sales & Order Support
- Generate and distribute weekly sales reports and cost studies
- Monitor and maintain open orders and daily reporting
- Support sales reporting and data accuracy
Customer Service & Administrative Support
- Answer and direct inbound telephone calls
- Provide shipment and order confirmations to customers
- Assist the accounting team and reception as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma/certificate in Accounting
- Minimum of two years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP Business One is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in a manufacturing or distribution office environment is an asset
- Familiarity with shipping charges, freight allowances, and related documentation
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential customer and supplier information with discretion
