Aplin is pleased to assist a respected, long-standing Edmonton law firm in hiring a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to support two busy lawyers. This role involves a wide range of legal and administrative responsibilities, including preparing legal documents and correspondence, managing inquiries, and providing exceptional support in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have solid General Litigation experience and a strong understanding of litigation processes. Experience with ProLaw is an asset.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a busy litigation practice with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
- Draft outlines of court documents and pleadings for lawyer review
- Prepare correspondence and client communications
- Open and prepare new files
- Conduct searches (Land Titles, Corporate, PPR)
- Support general litigation tasks, including filing records, serving documents, and scheduling court dates
- Assist with pre-trial and trial preparation, including maintaining trial binders and tracking limitations
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive diary system with the supervising lawyer
- Communicate frequently with clients and external parties
- Prepare accounts and perform general administrative tasks, including dictation and file management
Requirements
- Legal Assistant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in litigation
- Strong knowledge of Court of Justice and King’s Bench processes
- Understanding of legal concepts, principles, and terminology
- Ability to anticipate litigation steps and apply critical thinking
- Excellent communication and professionalism
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Exceptional records management
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team
