What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:
Lead Daily Financial Operations
- Review and approve all daily financial transactions, including payments, wire transfers, and EFTs.
- Verify accounting entries and ensure compliance with finance policies and accounting standards.
- Monitor system trail balances, focusing on suspense and un-postable accounts.
- Mitigate financial and operational risks through sound decision-making and control oversight.
Act as the Subject Matter Expert
- Serve as the go-to expert for system behavior, posting discrepancies, and general ledger mapping.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex transaction or posting outages across mortgage and deposit systems.
- Collaborate with IT Operations and Business Intelligence teams to identify and correct system errors.
Coach, Train, and Develop Team Members
- Provide leadership, feedback, and mentorship to Accounting Technicians.
- Develop training materials and support onboarding for new hires.
- Lead by example — maintaining consistency, quality, and accountability in every transaction.
Manage Cash Control and Compliance
- Review and authorize all cash transactions in accordance with policy.
- Design and maintain control tools to prevent errors or fraud.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to internal teams when controls are not met.
Strengthen Partner Relationships
- Oversee and validate daily remittances to investors and servicers.
- Ensure service level agreements and contractual obligations are met.
- Work directly with service partners to resolve issues and maintain trusted relationships.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting (CPA designation preferred or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including at least 2 years in banking or financial services.
- Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards and financial control processes.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Proven expertise in reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with user acceptance testing (UAT) and process documentation is an asset.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A leadership style that builds trust, promotes learning, and drives accountability.
