About the Role
Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for both payroll administration and revenue accounting across multiple operating entities. The position offers a mix of recurring transactional work and month-end responsibilities, as well as involvement in audit preparation and process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage their workload independently while working closely with site managers and the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 60–80 employees (hourly and salaried) using PayWorks
- Coordinate with operational managers to confirm hours worked and bonus schedules
- Perform revenue reconciliation and reporting for multiple operating sites
- Prepare and post month-end and year-end journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules
- Assist with annual audit preparation, including pulling payroll and revenue reports
- Reconcile corporate credit cards and related expense reports
- Process intercompany transactions and related entries
- Contribute to process improvement and help streamline accounting workflows
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 2–4 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity or operational environment
- Experience with payroll processing and revenue reconciliation
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and payroll practices
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Sage 50, PayWorks, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 (depending on experience)
- Bonus: Annual bonus (approx. two weeks’ salary)
- Benefits: 50/50 extended health coverage, gym reimbursement, and employee discounts
- Vacation: 3 weeks vacation plus additional days over Christmas and Easter
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (in-office)
