Aplin is partnered with a large financial institution to support the hire of a Senior Project Manager for a one-year contract (with potential extension) in Ottawa. The role offers a hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex IT infrastructure and network security projects using industry-standard project management practices.
 - Oversee all project phases, ensuring resources are used effectively and work is delivered on time and within scope.
 - Create and manage project plans, prioritize tasks, and coordinate work across technical and business teams.
 - Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
 - Prepare and present project updates, status reports, and risk logs to leadership and stakeholders.
 - Support change management activities and develop risk mitigation plans.
 - Measure and track project success, adoption, and value delivery.
 - Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and address concerns.
 - Act as the main point of contact for project teams and subject-matter experts.
 - Lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., scrums, sprint planning, retrospectives) and manage the backlog.
 - Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are completed accurately.
 - Provide regular status updates to senior leaders and sponsors.
 
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree or diploma in IT, business, project management, or related field.
 - 10+ years experience in IT infrastructure and network security.
 - 5+ years experience managing large, complex infrastructure modernization projects.
 - Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into project goals.
 - Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
 - Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially around infrastructure-related risks.
 - Proven experience managing multiple initiatives and dependencies simultaneously.
 - Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
 
Preferred Assets
- Experience managing infrastructure lifecycle programs (hardware refresh, hybrid/cloud environments).
 - Experience leading enterprise network security initiatives (firewall modernization, Zero Trust, segmentation, etc.).
 - Knowledge of banking operations and processes.
 - PMP and/or Scrum Master certification.
