Aplin has partnered with a well-established, medium-sized engineering and planning consulting firm in Edmonton, AB. They are looking for a Civil Design Technologist to complement their growing portfolio of clients.
As a Civil Design Technologist, you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality design solutions across the Edmonton region.

Responsibilities:
Technical Requirements
- Managing projects from preliminary engineering to completion, applying your technical knowledge and experience.
- Prepare engineering design drawings and figures.
- Performing computer-assisted design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Attention to drafting accuracy and quality control.
- Refine designs based on regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Coordination with sub-consultants and City approval authorities as required.
Project & Client Management
- Delivering projects within established timeframes and budgets.
- Planning, organizing, and designing to best serve the needs of our clients.
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams, clients, stakeholders, contractors, and municipal representatives.
Mentorship & Growth
- Mentor and support junior staff, promoting technical development and long-term team success.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and help foster an environment of continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent from a recognized college.
- Registered as a Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or Professional Technologist (P. Tech.) in Alberta with 5 to 15 years of land development experience.
- Proficient knowledge using Civil 3D for plan production, site grading & calculating earthwork volumes.
- Knowledge in municipal, water resources, transportation, and land development engineering design, including design of municipal and related infrastructure including sewage, water, roads, storm water, and drainage.
- Familiarity with various Municipal and Provincial design and drafting standards-particularly those of City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.
- Working knowledge of Excel, word processing, Bluebeam and other design programs.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Ability to work on your own and in a team setting with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
