We’re seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant for a contract opportunity in Chilliwack, BC to support a growing construction organization. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely financial operations while contributing to a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
This is a fully on site role starting ASAP for 6-12 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Managing full-cycle accounting functions including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and GST filings
- Running end-to-end payroll for a mixed workforce (hourly and salaried employees)
- Handling payroll complexities such as OT, LOA, travel time, and job-specific allowances
- Supporting project cost accounting by coding expenses accurately to jobs and tracking costs
- Ensuring financial accuracy through self-review and troubleshooting with minimal supervision
- Overseeing a small team of AP staff and assisting with the transition of duties from the outgoing Controller
- Contributing to ongoing systems transition from Sage 100 Contractor to Acumatica
Qualifications
- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting
- Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, including construction-specific rules
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a lean, on-site environment
- Background in project-based accounting or cost tracking to jobs
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Acumatica or Sage 100 Contractor
- Previous work in a construction or project-driven industry
- GST number / incorporated business (preferred for contractors)
- Exposure to ERP system implementations
