We’re working with a respected real estate group to support their search for a Property Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong commercial property accounting experience, looking to join a collaborative and fast-paced environment with long-term growth potential.
About the Opportunity
This role manages full-cycle accounting duties for a commercial real estate portfolio, with responsibilities across AR, AP, reconciliations, tax filings, and tenant communications. The position requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who can manage multiple tasks, adapt to change quickly, and maintain high standards of accuracy and service.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Maintain lease data and set up tenant billing in the accounting system
- Process recurring rents, manual invoices, tenant payments, and related correspondence
- Review receivables and support bad debt provisions and collections tracking
- Monitor CAM expenses and prepare annual reconciliations and billings
- Track percentage rent thresholds and prepare related invoicing
- Process corporate AP, including property tax, insurance, intercompany transfers, and distributions
- Manage tenant refunds, security deposits, and file GST returns
- Handle compliance remittances for Translink, Health Tax, minor payrolls, and corporate tax instalments
- Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and finalize job costing entries
- Process journal entries for accruals and property transactions
- Participate in quarterly banking tasks (rotational basis)
- Support miscellaneous portfolio-related requests and provide back-up for other accountants as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial property accounting
- Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of Yardi Voyager
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management
- Results-driven with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Compensation:
- $65,000-$75,000 (Dependent on experience)
- 3 weeks Vacation
