The Industrial Equipment Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programs for the safe and effective operation of industrial equipment—such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling systems—in both warehouse and manufacturing environments. This role plays a critical part in employee onboarding, skills development, safety compliance, and certification programs. The trainer works closely with operations leadership, safety teams, and external certification bodies to uphold a strong culture of safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs focused on industrial equipment operation (e.g., forklifts, cranes, lift trucks, pallet movers)
- Facilitate hands-on and classroom-based instruction for both new hires and existing employees
- Ensure all training programs meet regulatory and company safety standards (e.g., CSA, OH&S, WHMIS)
- Conduct skills assessments and observe employees during equipment operation to ensure competency and compliance
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training documentation for equipment and safety practices
- Support incident prevention through refresher training, coaching, and safety audits
- Maintain accurate records of employee certifications, training attendance, and equipment licensing
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on performance data and feedback
- Liaise with external training and certification providers as needed for specialized equipment
- 4+ years of experience in industrial, warehouse, or manufacturing environments with a focus on equipment operation and/or training
- Valid certification and hands-on experience operating forklifts, cranes, or other industrial equipment
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and/or experience delivering training programs
- Background in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Operations, Adult Education, or a related field is an asset
- Excellent facilitation and instructional skills, especially in hands-on technical environments
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., WHMIS, OHSA, CSA standards)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to deliver training in both classroom and shop-floor settings
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an asset
