Are you a detail-oriented legal assistant with a strong background in litigation? Our client, a successful and well-respected law firm located in downtown Toronto, is seeking a Labour & Employment Litigation Legal Assistant to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, proofread, serve, and file legal documents with precision and accuracy
- Transcribe and format correspondence and legal materials
- Manage multiple lawyers’ practices and prioritize their administrative needs
- Prepare special reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data
- Maintain both physical and electronic filing systems
- Prepare bills of costs and handle related documentation
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and monitor email communications
- Use sound judgment to proactively support lawyers with administrative tasks
- Work with a variety of legal software including Caselines, ACL, Conveyancer, Teraview, and Divorcemate
- Open and close legal files in accordance with firm procedures
- Collaborate with other legal assistants on complex or high-volume projects
- Provide backup support during absences and as needed
- Take on additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal assistant role, preferably with a focus on litigation
- Demonstrated experience with labour and employment matters is preferred
- Familiarity with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and/or the Ontario Labour Relations Board is a strong asset
- Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to support multiple lawyers simultaneously
- A team-oriented mindset with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Solid understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong working knowledge of legal billing and accounting procedures
- Diploma or certification in Legal Assistant or Law Clerk studies is considered an asset
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism
