Reporting to the Assistant Director, Database and Middleware Services, the Middleware Consultant will play a critical role in maintaining, configuring, and supporting middleware infrastructure to ensure reliable and high-performing platform services. This role involves root-cause analysis, problem resolution, and system optimization to minimize downtime and maximize service availability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in middleware technologies, platform configuration, and operational support in complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:
- Middleware Infrastructure Support:
- Provide operational support for middleware technologies, ensuring high availability and performance of enterprise applications.
- Participate in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of middleware platforms, including WebSphere, JBoss, IBM DataPower, and Oracle Fusion.
- Implement and manage middleware infrastructure configurations to ensure alignment with business needs and industry best practices.
- Problem Resolution & Root-Cause Analysis:
- Lead root-cause analysis for system incidents, identifying underlying issues and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and track service levels using established metrics, ensuring prompt restoration of services in case of outages or disruptions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and communicate the impact of middleware-related issues on business operations.
- System Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to middleware platform maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement configuration management to ensure consistency, scalability, and security of middleware infrastructure.
- Drive platform upgrades and migrations to ensure middleware technologies remain current and effective.
- Project Participation & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Participate in enterprise-wide middleware initiatives, supporting platform evolution and modernization efforts.
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to align middleware configurations with business and security requirements.
- Provide technical input and guidance for middleware-related projects and enhancements.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for middleware configurations, procedures, and system changes.
- Report deviations from service levels and identify areas for process improvements.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Support additional middleware tasks and deliverables as required.
- Deliver results with minimal supervision, following a general work plan and seeking guidance when necessary.
- Ability to obtain Reliability Status.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in middleware technologies, including installation, configuration, and support.
- Demonstrated experience with OpenShift 4.x, Azure ARO (Azure Red Hat OpenShift), and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience with IBM DataPower, IBM DataStage, JBoss, and IBM WebSphere Portal.
- Strong experience in Linux/Unix administration.
- Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage priorities, and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Oracle WebLogic Application Server (12.2 or higher in standard and clustered mode).
- Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Internet Directory (OID), and SOA Suite.
- Hands-on experience with IBM MQ and working with J2EE application servers such as IBM WebSphere or Red Hat JBoss EAP.
- Proven ability to work independently while delivering high-quality results.
