Aplin has partnered with a Nuclear consulting company in North York to hire a System Specialist. In this role you will support the President in implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the Management System while providing consulting services to the nuclear industry. This role ensures that all applicable regulatory and industry requirements are met and that the governance framework aligns with business objectives and is effectively executed. Additionally, the specialist oversees performance improvement initiatives to enhance safe plant operations, maintenance, and business outcomes.

Job Duties:
The Management System Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all activities align with the established management system governance framework and applicable licensing requirements. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the development and continual improvement of the Management System in alignment with the President’s requirements and expectations.
  • Providing management system consulting services to clients.
  • Collaborating with process owners to review and update management system governance, ensuring relevance, alignment with regulatory requirements, and documentation in the information management system.
  • Monitoring condition records, conducting trend analyses, and preparing reports for leadership review.
  • Tracking management actions to ensure relevance and timely completion.
  • Working with process owners to develop and execute annual internal assessment plans evaluating the Management System’s effectiveness.
  • Coordinating and participating in planning, execution, and reporting of internal and independent assessments of the Management System.
  • Supporting the leadership team in fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborating with the Licensing Director to communicate with regulators on Management System matters.
  • Assisting in the preparation and reporting for regular management review meetings.
  • Ensuring management system considerations are integrated into project schedules and status updates.
  • Pursuing industry training and maintaining expertise in evaluation methodologies and assessment techniques.
  • Participating in industry committees related to nuclear facility codes and standards.
Education:
  • Post-secondary education in engineering or sciences is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences is preferred.
Experience:
  • 5- 10 years of relevant experience in the nuclear energy sector.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory framework and licensing requirements for nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., CSA, ASME, IAEA, ISO).
  • Understanding of science fundamentals related to nuclear facility operations and maintenance.
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with evaluation or audit techniques; audit qualifications from an accredited association are desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
