Stacey Danley at Aplin is currently recruiting on behalf of her national client for the newly created role of Senior Disability Management Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and working out of the Winnipeg head office, the successful candidate will oversee extended absence and accommodation processes, providing guidance and consultation to ensure efficient use of related programs, policies, and procedures, including corporate wellness initiatives. Please note this is a full-time permanent, in-office position.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the full scope of sick leave and extended absence programs for Canada, including WSIB/WCB claim review and initiation, case management coordination, employee accommodation support, and maintaining regular communication with employees and HR teams.
  • Interpret and apply internal and external policies related to disability management and leaves of absence to support program effectiveness.
  • Develop proactive return-to-work and accommodation strategies, providing educational guidance to employees and managers.
  • Contribute to the promotion and execution of company-wide wellness initiatives.
  • Monitor absence-related data to generate reports and analysis that inform proactive disability management actions.
  • Maintain detailed records for all sick leave, disability, and accommodation claims.
  • Deliver training and presentations to leadership teams on the disability and wellness process.
  • Work closely with the HR team in the annual benefits policy renewal process to ensure wellness objectives are being achieved.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Disability Management, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of Occupational and Non-Occupational Claims Management including WSIB/WCB administration and LTD claims management.
  • Demonstrated experience in absence management and leading return-to-work programs.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment laws and Human Rights legislation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
