Reporting to the Automation Controls Manager, the Automation Controls Engineer will be a vital part of the team. In this role you will work closely with Project Managers to design, develop, install, troubleshoot, repair, and program control systems for Marine HVAC-R systems installed in large marine vessels. Your expertise will be pivotal in reducing ship cabling and building costs through innovative solutions, while ensuring top-quality electrical systems during installation, commissioning, and beyond.

Your expertise will be pivotal in reducing ship cabling and building costs through innovative solutions, while ensuring top-quality electrical systems during installation, commissioning, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design control panels using AutoCAD Electrical and produce associated shop drawings and wiring diagrams under the supervision of the Automation & Controls Manager.
- Program and configure PLC and HMI systems.
- Contribute to project planning by assessing the time required for engineering and detailed design tasks.
- Conduct end-to-end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
- Test and troubleshoot equipment and network HVAC systems controls during commissioning and Factory acceptance tests.
- Provide support to Field Engineers during start-up and commissioning phases.
- Update AutoCAD control panel drawings and wiring diagrams under the supervision of the Automation & Controls Manager.
- Read and interpret control sequence logic from control philosophy documents.
- Verify the calibration of system sensors and transmitters.
- Complete commissioning documentation.
- 8-10 years of experience in HVAC/Controls, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Automation or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with various PLC and Industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with PLC programming and implementation (Siemens Step 7 and Logo Controller, Beijer).
- Autonomous with strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills in automation.
- Experience in drawing panel layouts in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software is an asset.
- Bilingual with excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%.
