Corporate Controller

If you are a talented and experienced Controller, Aplin has the right opportunity for you! Drea Larson, Senior Consultant at Aplin has partnered with our client to recruit for the permanent position of Corporate Controller, located in Edmonton, Alberta.

Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, tax, payroll, and cash management for the company.  With 4 direct reports, the Corporate Controller will collaborate with other senior leaders on key business, financial, operational, and special initiatives to deliver on strategic and financial objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations
• Manage and coordinate all aspects of the external financial audit
• Participate in budgeting, variance analysis, and other relevant reporting insights
• Provide leadership to the Accounting & Finance team, focusing on continuing development, performance improvement, and succession planning
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, including supporting schedules, note disclosures, MD&A, and other narratives as required
• Maintain strong relationships with creditors and bankers
• Coordinate an efficient month-end close
• Establish and enhance formal processes and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Accounting designation (CPA) is required
• Strong knowledge of IFRS
• Experience working for a public company
• Strong knowledge of Excel including V lookup and pivot tables
• 3+ years in a leadership role, and ideally 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships at all levels within the organization
• Ability to pivot during times of change
