  • Effectively manage conflicts, working closely with managers to ensure that employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely to minimize risks to the business.
  • Support performance review and objective setting cycles through training and follow-up with managers, including probationary, interim and annual performance reviews.
  • Complete compensation analysis for workforce transitions and present recommendations to business and senior HR leaders for approval (e.g. new hires, promotions, transfers).
  • Participate in year-end compensation review exercises for applicable client groups, including annual base salary reviews, bonus plans and development of communication materials.
  • Support compensation survey participation for the business line as required.
  • Resolve complex HR issues effectively by applying knowledge across disciplines of HR including recruitment, compensation, performance management, training, employee/labour relations and workforce planning.
  • Facilitate and foster lasting relationships with leadership, employees, and unions to effectively resolve workplace issues.
  • Drive talent management activities that set out clear career paths and developmental options for employees.
  • Support and increase staff retention and productivity initiatives using strategies to enhance employee engagement, improve communication, promote leadership, and foster employee development. 
  • Bachelor’s degree/College Diploma in HR, Business or related area.
  • 5-7 years’ previous experience working in HR; construction, industrial or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • CHRP professional designation or working towards.
  • Experience using HRIS.
  • Possess knowledge of the Labour Act law and the Employment Standards Act requirements.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and a variety of complex situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Flexible and collaborative work style aimed at maintaining positive relationships with all levels of employees and management.
  • Work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and be detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex problems and make routine recommendations.
