Our client, situated in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a full-time Carpenter - Tradesman Level 2.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week over 5 days Salary Range/Wage Rate: $3,627.20 bi-weekly plus 6.25% deferred compensation Expected Start Date: Immediate

Position Objective: Execute a diverse range of carpentry tasks, utilizing acquired skills and knowledge to construct or repair utility facilities or infrastructure.

Responsibilities: (These duties are illustrative and not exhaustive.)
Perform skilled carpentry tasks related to general construction projects at various facilities and infrastructure sites. Design, construct, and repair concrete formwork, as well as wood frame, concrete, or steel structures. Execute finished carpentry tasks, including constructing office furniture and cabinetry. Supervise, train, delegate, and review the work of subordinates, including carpenters, helpers, and apprentices. Assist in formulating safe work procedures for construction projects. Contribute to or develop construction cost estimates and project timelines. Adhere to Corporate, Departmental, and WorkSafe BC standards and regulations. Operate and maintain manual and power tools used by carpentry personnel. Adhere to manufacturer's instructions and Corporate, Departmental, and WorkSafe BC standards and regulations for personal protective equipment. Engage in manual labor duties such as shoveling, concrete finishing, carrying materials, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas and carpentry shop. Occasionally work in confined spaces within water and waste water facilities and systems. May assume immediate supervisor role as needed.

Completion of secondary school or equivalent training and experience. Preference may be given to candidates with municipal experience. Additional training in Carpentry aligned with the Carpentry Industry Training Model or equivalent. Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement or equivalent. Thorough understanding of the British Columbia Building Code and its application in municipal, residential, and industrial construction. Proficiency in construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment. Skillful use of hand and power tools for both shop and field carpentry tasks. Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with internal and external stakeholders. Competency in computer applications relevant to the position, such as MS Office Suite and Project. Possess and maintain a reliable set of hand tools for on-site use. Physically fit for the demands of the role. Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Capability to establish and sustain productive working relationships. Valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license.
