Aplin has partnered with a leader in the defense industry to hire a Material Planner for a 3-6 month contract. This role will be responsible for aligning customer requirements with demand in ERP to deliver a successful supply plan. As part of the Planning & Scheduling team, you will determine the timing & quantities of direct materials needed for all production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials planning, demand planning, inventory management, and ERP Scheduling, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including KPI measurement & presentation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Analyze demand planned material requirements within the ERP system.
  • Update ERP Inventory Part Settings for optimal consumption & communicate to the responsible buyer to review lead times, MOQ, etc.
  • For reorder point material requirements update the ERP Inventory Part Settings for optimal consumption & communicate to responsible buyers to review lead times, MOQ, etc.
  • Within the ERP System, manage the inventory part master catalog to affect lean material planning.
  • Run weekly material availability reports, distribute to Purchasing, and chair the follow-up meeting for date-driven actions, ensuring the best possible supply plan to meet the Production Plan.
  • Advise internal teams on risks affecting materials, deliveries, and other production-related problems.
  • Develop material procurement plans in collaboration with Projects & Procurement to ensure materials are planned effectively.
  • Coordinate material flow between production departments and outside suppliers to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to support Sales & Operations planning.
  • Extract and analyze data from ERP to review and adjust inventory input levels.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels to support Warehouse Management strategies.
  • Report and monitor material performance metrics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Subject Expertise in MRP/ERP.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production planning, materials planning, procurement, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • APICS CPIM certification.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with a highly technical manufacturing environment.
