  • Provide support to lawyers in managing wills and estate matters through document preparation and general administration.
  • Work independently on file matters while collaborating with the team.
  • Manage a significant workload and suggest improvements for work efficiencies.
  • Adapt to new technologies and processes for accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • General case administration including file management, billing, diarization, and data entry.
  • Manage Outlook calendar and appointment booking.
  • Draft legal documents such as wills, estate documents, and litigation documents with attention to accuracy.
  • Prepare documents and correspondence from dictation and other instructions.
  • Maintain file organization and ensure timely progress of matters.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, defendants, and other stakeholders via email and telephone.
  • Work with the Estates team and various clients.
  • Monitor and track matters to ensure timely progress in meeting all deadlines.
  • Possess outstanding legal technical skills and provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Work well under pressure and short deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain client and firm confidentiality.
  • 3+ years experience as a legal assistant in a law firm environment preferably working within the Wills and Estates practice area.
  • A formal legal assistant program or diploma at a recognized post-secondary institution is an asset.
