If you are a talented and experienced HR Office Manager, Aplin has the right opportunity for you! In this role you will be responsible for monitoring and managing employee relations and performance in a shared service center environment.  You will maintain customer relationships, while maintaining the company’s adherence to the Service Level Agreement (SLA).  You will provide assistance in confidential matters related to labour relations, and/or human resources, as well as be responsible for maintaining general office services which includes assigning and monitoring general office work as well as ensuring adherence to guidelines and procedures set by the parent company.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all applicable health and safety regulations are followed, set and coordinate staff work schedules, and monitor staff performance.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for customer service-related concerns, and inquiries, and management of the same.
  • Assist the Director of Labour Relations/Human Resources, and other managers in handling employee responsibilities based on Service Level Agreements.
  • Maintain direct reporting relationship, and regular communication parent company.
  • Administer employee benefits such as retirement plan and other health & wellness benefits.
  • Assist Director of Labour Relations/Human Resources in a confidential manner with attendance, discipline, terminations, training, and staff development.
  • Administer leave policies to ensure compliance with company policies, and Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code.
  • Effectively apply, interpret, and communicate policies, procedures and guidelines set by governmental agencies and/or parent company.
  • Maintain HRIS system as needed as well as confidential employee files and documentation.
  • Assist HR Department of parent company, as needed, including travelling to, and performing duties at parent company’s location in Long Beach, California.
  • Monitor vendors and associated costs; maintain inventory supplies for office.
  • Meet or exceed established performance goals including, but not limited to quality, productivity, and completion of tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Assign general office work as deemed necessary for maximum efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
  • Must have knowledge of human resources and employee relations in Canada and Nova Scotia; ability to maintain confidential labour/employee relations discussions, decisions, and information at all times.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in labour relations and human resources, or related field, plus a minimum of 4 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in a shared service center environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience managing a team.
  • Familiarity with ADP WorkForce Now, Pay eXpert, Enterprise eTime, ADP HRB considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint & Microsoft Outlook.
  • Superior customer service skills are required.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, spelling, grammar, verbal, and written skills necessary.
  • Must be able to multitask, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work accordingly.
