The senior accountant is responsible for maintaining an effective framework to measure financial and operating performance within the organization and will prepare and report accurate and timely financial results under ASPE Standards to the corporate finance team. The senior accountant will also prepare management reports to support decision-making while working closely with management to develop and monitor key performance indicators.

The senior accountant is responsible for maintaining an effective framework to measure financial and operating performance within the organization and will prepare and report accurate and timely financial results under ASPE Standards to the corporate finance team. The senior accountant will also prepare management reports to support decision-making while working closely with management to develop and monitor key performance indicators.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Duties:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial results under ASPE standards.
- Review of financial reports from affiliate companies
- updating the consolidation of financial reports for senior management
- Inventory reporting and reconciliations
- assistance with budget and forecast preparation
- Analytical review and report preparation for internal financial statements
- GST returns for holding companies
- Statistics Canada surveys
- Review of financial reports from affiliate companies
- Assistance with the preparation of corporate tax returns for holding companies
- Provide support for independent and internal audits and assist with the coordination of audit activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of legal entity financial statements to support legal and tax filings.
- Working with management to deliver timely, effective information required to operate the business effectively.
- Coordinating the bookkeeping and monthly accounting cycles for various holding companies
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly reports evaluating financial, operational, and project performance.
- Ensure operations and processes are compliant with internal policies and controls.
- Ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day accounting responsibilities and resolve any queries as they arise.
- Assist in the preparation of long-range plans, forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Establish and support new accounting practices, methods, and procedures as required.
- Work closely with the Controller and other members of the Finance team in the development of critical projects and deliverables.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of combined auditing and accounting/consolidations/financial reporting experience.
- A designated CPA is preferred.
- At least three years of operational mining experience.
- Knowledge of ASPE Standards
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and change management skills
- Demonstrated Excel and reporting skills.
- SAP is an asset.
- Team player with an appetite for continuous improvement.
- Able to work autonomously with little direct supervision.
- Positive energy and attitude, contributing and supportive team member
