Aplin has partnered up with a very valued client; to recruit for a Controller to support their growing operations in Winkler, Manitoba.

Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller will manage all phases of financial reporting, corporate accounting as well as general business strategy & risk management
  • Preparation of budgets and financial forecasts including report variances
  • Oversee financial controls
  • Manage tax reporting and remittances
  • Development of monthly financial statements and support of year-end close requirements
  • Preparation of regulatory and financial reporting ensuring quality and compliance requirements
  • Ongoing oversight and development of internal control policies and procedures
  • Management and oversight of  billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition
  • Developing and supervising accounting staff
  • Participate in special projects as required
Qualifications:
  • CPA or CMA designation complimented by an undergraduate degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of full cycle relevant accounting experience, construction experience an asset
  • A strategic mindset and comfortable being hands-on and contributing to the day-to-day as necessary
  • Positive, adaptable, and resilient with the ability to work well across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively consider and address needs and respond to requests promptly
  • Demonstrated competency with financial statements, general ledger functions, and month-end and year-end close requirements
  • Advanced level MS Excel and MS Word skills with a solid working knowledge of industry-relevant accounting software
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and motivation to achieve company targets
  • Strong leadership skills are required along with an ability to communicate with various stakeholders and teams throughout the company
