- Set up and maintain filing systems, utilizing knowledge of legal records and procedures and frequently controlling confidential materials and documents
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents, such as deeds, wills, affidavits and briefs
- Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and grammatical usage
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office
- Answer phone calls, schedule meetings and direct clients as needed
- Open, update (including data entry and scanning of documentation), organize, maintain and close legal files (paper and electronic)
- Provide information to employees and clients by answering questions and requests
- A post-secondary diploma in legal administration
- Previous office administrative experience (previous in a law firm is a strong asset)
- Demonstrated initiative and be a self-starter
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to provide polite and professional communication
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience with PC Law an asset
