Reporting to the President, the Controller is responsible for establishing and achieving strategic business objectives as a member of the senior leadership team.  The position is focused on planning, risk management, reporting the development and enforcement of the company's accounting practices, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing financial reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the creation of detailed annual budgets.
  • Direct the cash management function, establish credit control policy, and maintain ongoing relationships with lending institutions.
  • Ensure variances to business plans and forecasts are well understood and articulated.
  • Analyze financial and capital expenditures.
  • Month-end close process including validating actuals, reconciling accounts, reviewing results, and posting period-end adjustments.
  • Collaborate with Accounting services on complex accounting issues including research on policy choices and preparation of position papers.
  • Ensure that internal controls and accounting policies are up to date and being adhered to.
  • Draft MD&A and other documents in support of public disclosure of business performance.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors.
Qualifications: 
  • Accounting designation (CPA), plus an undergraduate degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in finance and accounting.
  • Minimum of 8 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience leading teams through times of transition.
  • Experience in a complex public company is a MUST HAVE.
