If you are a talented and experienced Structural Engineering Manager, Gezamin Manuel, Recruitment Consultant at Aplin has partnered with our client, a growing company in Vaughan, Ontario. The Structural Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the technical design work of the structural engineering team. The incumbent will possess demonstrated solid managerial skills with highly specialized technical knowledge as a Structural Engineer.  

  • Oversee, direct and co-ordinate activities of the structural team including assessing project tasks, delegating resources, and monitoring assignments
  • Ensure budget and scope are maintained while efficiently executing project deliverables on time
  • Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies during the production of structural engineering deliverables
  • Provide, advise and make recommendations on project organizational requirements, design processes, construction methods, work methods, procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems
  • Responsible for supervising and managing the structural team including providing guidance, training, and feedback
  • Review, evaluates and approves technical documentation/work prepared by engineers, designers, and technicians including specification changes
  • Serve as the main point of contact with project stakeholders, delivering outstanding customer service and support
  • Provide consultation and expertise to both our internal teams and external clients
  • Responsible for the financial performance of projects including monitoring of internal project costs and review of monthly invoicing ensuring budgets are maintained
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned


  • Bachelors’ Degree or master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • P.Eng. Designation
  • 15+ years of Structural engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a structural engineering discipline
  • Significant experience working in the consulting engineering space is a requirement
  • Working on projects directly in the mining and/or heavy industrial industries is a requirement
  • Solid understanding of Canadian Engineering standards, regulations, and guidelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working directly in or with designers in a 3D model environment
  • Strong initiative and judgement in analyzing problems and determining most effective approach
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and execute small to large projects while exceeding expectations
