Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Reliability Engineer will improve the reliability of the plant with regard to equipment, procedures and working methods by analyzing the performance of the plant and consequently developing a preventive and predictive maintenance plan in accordance with all regulations governed by the Department of Labor and in accordance with all regulations governed by Canadian Electrical Code and ISA best practices.  This position falls within the marine oil section and will look after the processes and technologies are operated in the production of fish oil. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Translate  Plant Management objectives into a Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Plan (PPM), in cooperation with maintenance management.  Continuously develop and optimize the PPM plan, achieving maximum availability of the plant against the lowest costs
  • Analyze the plant and determine the criticality of installed equipment.  For critical equipment, perform Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), equipment specific for high critical, generic for medium critical
  • Translate PPM plan into specific preventive maintenance activities and procedures
  • Identify and prioritize performance issues and cost drivers related to equipment reliability by evaluating the performance of the plant in terms of OEE, using statistical methods, RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis)
  • Propose and initiate technical solutions to eliminate actual and potential performance issues and discuss with stakeholders (maintenance, production, business, etc.).  Ensure handover to appropriate work process
  • Safeguard the availability of critical and other spare parts for the plant
  • Increase levels of user knowledge and ownership by supporting training to production and maintenance personnel
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with site management of change procedure for Improve Plant proposals that have been allocated to him/her
  • Acts in such a way that safety awareness & accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks
  • Aware of and follow all the Company’s Life Saving Rules
  • Responsible to work in a SHE responsible manner and report all SHE incidents.  Shows leadership by working to SHE standards and encouraging employees to work to the same standards
  • Always display and promote positive safety behaviors; uses proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area comply with the safety directives
  • Responsible to ensure that a phased (in alignment with engineering process steps) consideration and assessment of the various SHE aspects is executed during design, construction and commissioning for capital projects that are allocated to him/her
  • Responsible to work within the company’s Small Projects process to deliver, as Project Manager, projects as assigned, especially equipment lifetime extension projects
  • Support plant and corporate initiatives as outlined in the manufacturing plan.  

Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree with strong hands-on experience
  • Bachelor's degree, and a Master's degree an asset
  • Exceptional software and computer skills, as well as proficiency in writing PMs, conducting breakdowns, and performing RCAs
  • Computer skills, MS office, expertise in Excel, SAP would be an asset
  • Communication and presentation skills required
  • Experience with Lubrication analysis, vibration analysis, maintenance strategy
  • Experience in a management/supervisor role
  • Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering, maintenance and production and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems
  • Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing equipment
  • Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations. Strong interpersonal skills are a must. 

This is a full time, on-site position offers bonus, benefits from day 1, and relocation assistance if required.  

Work schedule is from Monday to Friday 8:30am to 430pm.
