Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Mines and WorkSafeBC Safety Standards
- Assessment of existing aging infrastructure and development of strategic upgrade plans
- Assist with electrical reliability program to eliminate defects in electrical equipment on-site
- General electrical technical support for site power distribution and electrical equipment
- Support troubleshooting of electrical equipment and conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures
- Develop, maintain, update, and analyze electrical equipment performance data
- Develop budgets, schedules, and plans for key projects
- Create and maintain engineering documents, including drawings in AutoCAD
- Provide field engineering support for maintenance projects
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate members of the Technical Services department
- Liaise with engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors as necessary
- Support Technical Services and other engineering projects as needed
Qualifications:
Professional Experience
- Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- 5-7 years experience with electrical reliability and maintenance in an industrial setting
- Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage power distribution systems, and electrical motors (including large-scale synchronous motors) is required
- Thorough understanding of applicable standards and practices pertaining to electrical safety in industrial settings is required
- Exposure to reliability-centered maintenance strongly preferred
- Knowledge of conveyance systems, controls and variable frequency drives strongly preferred
- Experience with ETAP or similar power system software considered an asset
- Exposure to base metals mineral processing and milling/mining equipment considered an asset
- Red seal (electrical) certificate considered an asset
- Exposure to project management considered an asset
- Knowledge/experience with computer-assisted drawing programs (AutoCAD)
- Good working knowledge of all MS office applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess and maintain a valid Canadian driver’s license
Education
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering field
