Health and Safety Officer

Our Winnipeg-based client is looking for someone to provide H&S support to the current Safety Officer with the long-term plan to potentially take over for this looming retirement.

Responsibilities:

• Provide ongoing support to the Safety Officer
• Maintain, update, and ensure the accuracy of the safety application, as well as all forms and documentation relating to safety
• Assist with investigating and reporting workplace injuries and incidents
• Assist and attend safety committee and general safety meetings; provide training when required
• Assist with completing annual COR audits
• Assist with planning and coordinator schedules
• Assist with special projects as required

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education is an asset
• Construction industry experience is required
• Experience in dealing with a health and safety-related role
• Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office
• Resourceful with problem-solving abilities
• Sense of urgency and the ability to adapt to various scenarios
• A positive and friendly attitude and a strong work ethic
• Valid driver’s license for occasional site work, approximately 10-20%
