The Functional BA - Workday will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and evolution of the HR technology system, Workday, with a specific focus on the Talent, Payroll, Benefits, and Core HR modules. The Functional Business Analyst collaborates closely with business process owners to understand how Workday is being used, define requirements, deliver enhancements, and provide system solution recommendations that will meet the needs of the business and facilitate effective and efficient HR and payroll processes.

The Functional BA - Workday will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and evolution of the HR technology system, Workday, with a specific focus on the Talent, Payroll, Benefits, and Core HR modules. The Functional Business Analyst collaborates closely with business process owners to understand how Workday is being used, define requirements, deliver enhancements, and provide system solution recommendations that will meet the needs of the business and facilitate effective and efficient HR and payroll processes.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with process owners to understand business context related to the functionality of Workday
- Gather and define business requirements, providing advice and guidance that follow effective design principles and guidelines.
- Translates business requirements into system solutions that will effectively support programs and policies
- Ensures cross-functional system impacts are considered in your design and have an end-to-end business process perspective to your recommended solutions, which include reporting and workflow impacts
- Follows strong governance around documentation of systems changes
- Partners closely with the Business Solutions team to design, develop, test, and implement related or interfaced solutions
- Configures, tests, and implements system-approved business requirement changes
- Reviews, tests, and implements bi-annual Workday releases including analysis to determine impact and opportunities to business processes, presenting suggested new features
- Manages and executes incoming support tickets as well as ongoing system improvement tasks
- Provides system administrator tasks including system performance monitoring, functional configuration, security, workflow, control table maintenance, development of custom fields, bulk data loads, and reporting in support of these administrative functions
- Stays informed of new functionality and roadmap features that would support HR program strategies or an overall enhanced user experience, suggesting to HR process owners’ opportunities to leverage Workday to support their programs
- May also be required to be part of other software projects being implemented by Business Solutions to the business when required
- The ability to build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels and clearly articulate ideas and concepts
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Innovative thinking, clear analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and issues in a manner that business partners understand
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of progressive experience working directly with Workday and/or equivalent experience, with a preference for experience with Core HR, Payroll and/or Performance, and Talent Management module configuration
- Experience with construction industry processes and terminology is an asset
- Understanding of payroll, HR, benefits, and talent management business concepts, processes, and terminology an asset
