As the Systems Engineer, you will work with the Systems Team and also act as Project Engineer on multi-disciplinary project teams. You will guide the team to analyze system concepts, define requirements, create and document system design and interfaces, define and manage subsystem requirements, and verify/validate the system to ensure it meets customers’ needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and describe the Technical Solution during bids; support the Program Manager in cost estimation
  • Provide the primary technical interface to Customers, Partners, and Suppliers
  • Using your engineering skills to undertake projects from concept through to in-service, designing Sonar or underwater Acoustics systems across a wide variety of projects
  • Using your expertise, take an innovative and forward-thinking approach to managing the definition and through life update of system and subsystem requirements
  • Supervise/ lead the System Design activities to provide engineering assurance throughout the development
  • Supervise/ lead the development of an Integration, Verification, and Validation strategy
  • Lead project lifecycle and technical design reviews
  • Ensure the system complies with all applicable standards and legislative requirements, including contributing to the development of safety artifacts
  • Identify and mitigate Technical Risk
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Engineering function, including processes and tools
  • Support the maintenance and evolution of our Product Portfolio through collaboration with the capability team
  • Mentor junior staff

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Systems Engineering in a formal environment (i.e. defense or other industries with rigorous lifecycle management)
  • Capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company
  • Experience in the Maritime Domain, Underwater Warfare, Torpedo Defence, or Acoustics is desired
  • Knowledge and commercial experience of System Engineering lifecycles
  • Able to contribute to the Concept of Operations in which systems are used and have robust experience in requirements definition and management
  • Able to lead to a System Design, through functional and non-functional analysis
  • Experience in Integration, Verification, and Validation activities, including Test Planning, Test Conduct, and Reporting
  • Able to work collaboratively to achieve team goals with strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to details
  • Willing to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally to Engineering Managers and Project Managers
  • Able to manage technical conflict and contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere
  • Able to travel occasionally travel within Canada, the US, and Overseas
