The Production Lead – Plant Manager will be involved early with all aspects of the plant and project. You will be responsible for daily production management of project requirements as well as management of the plant, people, and process from early budget contributions thru to installation on site. You will use your experience in custom projects to guide the procurement, logistics, staff resources and overall production schedule to achieve the milestones set.

Responsibilities:

Review Upcoming Work:
  • Oversee Tool purchasing requirements and recommendations
  • Oversee the selection of Production Leads and Project teams for upcoming work
  • Contribute to budget estimating and cost-effective best build process
  • Actively participate in meetings to review client expectations, preliminary drawings for cost saving design options, sample requirements, pre-schedule and early capacity requirements
  • Review IFR and IFC drawings to confirm best build order and capabilities with the Project Leads
  • Work with Logistics to develop a Bill of Material review for a full understanding of what material and hardware has been purchased. Know when to anticipate the arrival of material
  • Adhere to QC standards for the shop and ensure they are followed
  • Report required OH consumable purchasing to Vice President ensuring facility, equipment and tools are operational
  • Review the selection of workers for upcoming work with Production Leads
  • Review and execute Milestone dates
  • Participate in budget reviews and management of production expenses
 
Scheduling:
  • Balance Resource Capacity schedule for 3 months with a 1 year lookahead
  • Schedule of upcoming work with Production Lead, Job leads
  • Oversee the Organization of Production Processes and Flow
  • Assign weekly tasks and issue to project team to achieve production milestones
  • Understand critical path and build order of the project
  • Ensure schedule is adhered to and milestones are proactively managed on all production projects

Project Planning:
  • Review Production Plan by incorporating the Project Management schedule milestones, scope of work, drawings and Bill of Material
  • Review the creation of the Traveller, setup and implement a three week look-ahead schedule, QC sheets, IFC drawings, Production Plan and Shop Instruction Log
  • Conduct a Production pre-project kick-off meeting with the selected project team one week prior to the project start date to review Traveller, IFC drawings, production plan, schedule, milestones, material and task codes
  • Coordinate and conduct an Install kick-off
  • Manage logistics Create a shipping plan by confirming project Bill of Material, Material QC, packaging and trucking requirements
 
Duties:
  • Oversee product flow plans throughout the facility
  • Execute disciplinary action
  • Oversee Weekly status meetings with Production Leads
  • Make sure the project team knows their accountability with tools, material, drawings and milestones
  • Preform project area housekeeping inspections every day. Write-ups will be given if inadequate
  • Recommend disciplinary action as required for attendance and punctuality issues
  • Travel to different install site maybe required
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Lead production to employee annual reviews, mentoring and training
 
Quality Control:
  • Inspect project materials and create Quality Assurance plans
  • Ensure Sub-contractor work and material is correct and as per the scope
 
Payroll Duties:
  • Oversee Career Path and Perform Employee reviews for production Staff with VP Operations
  • Oversee hiring new employees with VP Operations
  • Review, Enter and Approve timecards and approve Vacation Requests
  • Communicate the correct task codes to be use on the projects
 
Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs
  • Oversee all aspects of building maintenance
  • Oversee OH Budgets
 
Safety Duties:
  • Work with Safety Lead to implement our safety plan, adhere to recommendations and annual audits
  • Arrange for medical treatment as required including transportation to a medical facility
  • Conduct the investigation of accidents, incidents, potential losses, and property damage
  • Develop Lift Plans and Safe work plans. Create a safe work environment
  • Develop established safety policies, review Lift Plans and weekly Safety Audits
  • Initiate company safety policies and relevant occupational health and safety legislation
  • Advise all employees of any potential or actual dangers, how to isolate, prevent, or remove them
  • Advise management and safety committees on how to prevent similar accidents/incidents in the future
  • Ensure that the health and safety program continues to challenge

Qualifications:
  • 15 years of experience in production/construction field with over 10 as a production supervisor with a staff of 25+ employees
  • Experience with a variety of materials, such as, steel, aluminum, GFRC, concrete and wood products are considered an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving and people skills
  • Able to manage large groups
  • Good communication, listening, organizational and time management skills
  • Experience managing a safety program such as: WCB account, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, First-Aid, Crane Operator Certificate, Forklift Operator Certificate recommended
  • Must be computer literate with sound working knowledge Word, Excel and MS Project
  • Valid driver's license & own vehicle
