Key Deliverables of the Role:
Financial Reporting, Treasury Management:
- Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and annual and quarterly MD&As
- Research of technical accounting matters and documentation of accounting positions, policies, and technical issues
- Assists with establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Review of account reconciliations and working papers
- Assists with the coordination and development of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
- Preparation, maintenance and reporting of internal and external financial records and analyses and assist with the coordination of internal and external audits
- Financial reporting and analysis and cost control in accordance with company systems and procedures
- Manage marketable securities and investment of surplus cash to maximize returns and liquidity at acceptable levels of risk
Corporate Development, Investor Relations:
- Assistance in various areas of the company, including corporate development work – merger, acquisition, partnerships, etc.
- Create and maintain financial models, including discounted cash flow models
- Helping to coordinate and manage investor relations activities with the CEO
- Perform industry research using publicly available information
- Establish and maintain internal databases containing industry, competitor, and transaction information
- Prepare and obtain approval for an annual investor relations work plan / schedule for the year, including a schedule of planned press releases
- Assists in the preparation and dissemination of press releases
- Assists in research for and the preparation of corporate presentations
- Prepare and maintain capitalization reports for the Company
Other:
- Establishes and maintains effective communication within all levels of the company
- Establishes and maintains effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors, regulators and professional trade groups
- Other duties and projects as may be assigned from time to time
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Business – Accounting or Finance
- Professional designation of CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) or CFA or equivalent experience
- Bachelor in geology or engineering, with an MBA or CFA
- Knowledge of IFRS, financial and accounting practices and procedures beneficial
- Direct geological/mining industry experience is considered an asset
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong analytic abilities
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong relationship building skills
- Knowledge and recent experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Past experience in the mining or nuclear sectors will be considered an advantage
