Solaris System Administrator – Unix

If you are a talented and experienced Solaris Systems Administrator, Aplin has the right opportunity for you! Our Ottawa-based client is searching for someone who will be responsible for contributing to Solaris OS patching and remediation practices. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of a 2-year extension, available to candidates Canada-wide, and is offered as fully remote. 

Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Assistant Director of OS Platform Services, assist with operational support for the Solaris 11 environment
• Contribute to Solaris OS patching and remediation practices and cycles
• Assist with planning and execution of Solaris patch management using best practices
• Assist with execution and planning of installation, configuration, and tuning of Solaris servers using OVM
• Provide input to and/or develop necessary documentation (build books, operation guides)
• Other activities and deliverables, as required

Qualifications:

• University degree or college diploma in computer science or a related field
• A minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated work experience with:
  • Solaris 11
  • Unix System administration and hardware support
  • Building automation (Scripting, Packaging, Ansible, OpsCenter)
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
• Able to work overtime and on-call hours when necessary
