The VP of Logistics is responsible for improving logistics and reducing transportation costs by developing a strong internal transportation team focused on providing customers with exemplary service and competitive solutions. 

Responsibilities:
  • Perform strategic assessment of company and customer freight carriers, costs, load and lane optimization
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies that result in maximum utilization of company assets
  • Align freight management and transportation with customer requirements to ensure service levels and costs are optimized
  • Monitor all inbound and outbound shipments, provide problem solving resolutions and expedited solutions
  • Maintain strong industry knowledge and interface with all levels of internal and external customers to collaborate and educate on transportation costs, trends, and regulations
  • Lead the development and implementation of company transportation programs, policies, and procedures
  • Lead the process for design, development, and implementation of optimized operations scenarios for cost comparisons and strategy development
  • Responsible for setting and managing the logistics budget 
  • Oversee the purchase of air, ocean, and land services ensuring cost and quality standards are met
  • Responsible for vendor selection and contract negotiations.

Qualifications:

Education/Background Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, or related Business degree required
  • Ten years’ experience in logistics management required.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience negotiating contracts and creating and managing budgets
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
  • Knowledge of materials management, inventory control, warehouse and DC operations, material handling equipment, and transportation
