The Operations Field Manager is accountable for providing strategy, leadership, support, and resource management direction to the Field Operations team to achieve identified construction, budget, safety, lean, quality, and scheduling goals and objectives in line with our Purpose and Core Values. They must be a highly motivated, adaptable, and experienced in multiple aspects of construction workforce management and labour relations, while possessing advanced strategic and thinking skills to manage dynamic planning and execution requirements.

They must be a highly motivated, adaptable, and experienced in multiple aspects of construction workforce management and labour relations, while possessing advanced strategic and thinking skills to manage dynamic planning and execution requirements.
Reporting to: Vice President, Operations
Responsibilities:
- Lead workforce forecasting and planning sessions using proven software or tracking methods that provide analytics and metrics to ensure adequate Field resources are available to support planned and projected work volumes
- Accountable for yearly planning and spending approval of the financial budget with regards to the Field Operations team
- Partner with HR during Annual Pay Review to ensure alignment with industry peers while ensuring Company remains competitive on project tenders
- Manage and implement competitive Travel and Living out Allowance (LOA) standards
- Oversee the effective and efficient assignment of work, supervision and coordination of Superintendents, Foreman, and Field Workforce teams
- Establish partnerships with third party resource providers and agencies to manage peak period demands to maintain a stable workforce headcount
- Coach and mentor team and provide career development opportunities through training and development initiatives including best practices for Human Resources and workforce management
- Perform and facilitate performance reviews and compensation evaluations
- Accountable for the succession and progression planning of our Field Operations team to ensure their long-term success in line with our strategic growth objectives
- Facilitate and drive Company employee engagement, experience and recognition programs
- Oversee seasonal Superintendent & Foreman Summits focused on key business priorities
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure Company Core Values are being demonstrated with our Field Workforce teams
- Develop and implement of recruitment and retention strategies
- Promote Company through Community and industry involvement and activities including fostering relationships with skilled trade schools to build a strong and diverse pipeline of talent
- Engage and educate Field Operations team on business KRA’s
- Communicate and inform the Field Workforce teams of upcoming opportunities, training, and future assignments
- Manage Field Vehicle Fleet standards and assignments
- Manage Credit Card and Cell Phone Assignments
- General labour relations for all field resources
Qualifications:
- A Post-Secondary Certificate/Degree or related experience leading and managing all aspects of a large operations Field team
- 10+ years of related experience with at least 5 years managing the essential duties and responsibilities identified
- Proficient in (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning systems and software
- Training or experience with Workday or similar an asset
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong analytical problem solving and execution skills with ability to overcome internal and external challenges or obstacles within a large workforce team
- Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures related to Labor Relations for the Construction Industry
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of accountability, integrity, and coaching teams with a collaborative approach, while inspiring these same characteristics with the team
- Diplomatic and considered approach to negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management
- Keen safety intelligence and a commitment to safety as a number one priority for the company in how projects are delivered, and our teams operate
- Outstanding listening and communication skills; must be able to effectively relate to multiple levels of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including using word processing, email, the internet, and spreadsheets to their full capacity
