Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for assisting with the management and overall financial operations of the organization. The Controller will work with the CFO to provide accurate information to the ownership group including analysis, budgets, forecasting, and preparation of financial reports.

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for assisting with the management and overall financial operations of the organization. The Controller will work with the CFO to provide accurate information to the ownership group including analysis, budgets, forecasting, and preparation of financial reports.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, A/P & A/R, and statutory reporting
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with regulatory guidelines as well as company policies and procedures
- Work with external auditors, audit committees, and owners
- Support new systems and implement them from a strategic finance and internal control perspective
- Hire, train, supervise, and mentor more junior team members
- Prepare monthly financial statements and external reports for financial institutions, ensuring all guidelines are met
- Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders, and invoices
- Provide strategic analysis as required to improve decision making
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for each department
- Accounting designation (CPA) is required
- Ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant federal, provincial, and local requirements regarding financial records, pensions, and profit sharing
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and excel
- Minimum of 5 years experience at a senior management level
- Construction experience with a focus on WIP and project accounting
- Experience with an ERP implementation is considered an asset
