Aplin has partnered with a Ottawa-based company to hire a Human Systems Interface Specialist on a 12 month contract for a hybrid opportunity.

Responsibilities:
  • Development, decomposition, and analysis of human factors and human systems interface requirements, functioning in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
  • Perform system level verification/data review activities as needed
  • Interface with program management, subcontractor, and engineering staff, in support of HFE/HSI related activities
  • Provide commensurate level leadership to the system engineering effort, including direct and in-direct management of engineers with limited oversight from engineering senior leadership personnel in a collaborative environment
  • Develop and manage HFE/HSI requirements in the NGI requirements management (DOORS) tool
  • Ability to identify and define internal and external interfaces as impacted by HFE/HSI efforts, as part of the larger systems engineering team
  • Support system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/ anomaly resolution as related to program HFE/HSI
  • Support the testing and/ or evaluation/ validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation in relation to HFE/HSI efforts
  • Prepare and present materials at program major milestone meetings
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints in regard to HFE/HSI activities
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into HFE/HSI hardware and software specifications

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience designing and developing new systems, applications, and solutions as they relate to HFE/HSI areas of expertise
  • Experience with system and interface requirements development and verification as they relate to HFE/HSI areas of expertise
  • Experience writing plans, procedures, and artifacts to document work performed
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with program teams
  • Ability to take requirements and turn them into diagrams, architectures, or data flows
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Active Secret or higher Security Clearance is required (before start date)

Preferred Qualifications/Assets
  • Strong experienced-base in Systems Engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with geographically and organizationally diverse team members
  • Experience developing and integrating new architectural analysis via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
  • Familiarity with DOORS
  • Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira
  • Familiarity with operational or mission analysis methodologies
  • Experience with large scale military/naval/aerospace/defense project
  • Strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document human factors and human systems interface requirements
  • Strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously
