Aplin has partnered with a Saskatoon-based company to hire a Principal Program Architect to join their team. This position provides technical expertise in translating business strategy into technology solutions across the organization. This role requires the successful candidate to work a hybrid work model out of their Saskatoon office.

The Role:
  • Applies architecture tools / best practices and develops, designs, and approves architecture guardrails to drive secure, well-designed systems to deliver maximum business value
  • Responsible for evaluating technologies and products, determining, and enforcing standards
  • Serves as the voice of authority for balancing all technology and architecture matters, closely linked to the company’s global architecture, and is a core representative of the Technology Architecture Panel
  • Facilitates Technology strategy for roadmaps and architectural models in alignment with the current needs of the business, working directly with peer Technology Architects in solution, data and infrastructure domains through Global Architecture standards, guardrails, and processes
  • Assesses the gap between current and target states, develop a roadmap by aligning current work and future work so that the target state can be achieved
  • Provides specialist advisory on architectural standards, governance frameworks and emerging technologies
  • Manages the existing and roadmap portfolio of technology services
  • Understands and contributes to technology services across the company globally, assessing the current landscape to detect issues / risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Analyses a variety of cyber security information and tests existing security controls to advise on mitigation and preventative measures for cyber risks/threats
  • Works directly with the global cybersecurity team for services such as the global testing and control program
  • Develops strategy, value chain and competitive landscape to identify opportunities to deliver superior long-term risk adjusted returns for shareholders and stakeholders
  • Applies an understanding of knowledge in Cloud and Hosting, including virtualization, operating systems, compute and high-performance computing, data protection, storage, public cloud transport, private cloud transport and virtualized applications
  • Works directly with the Global Cloud and infrastructure team to align on strategy and implementation within the enterprise
  • Translates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing, and analyzing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy
  • Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Defines value drivers and determines the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment

The Ideal Candidate:

Pivotal Experiences for the role:
  • Must have at least 5 years in an Architect role
  • At least 5 years of technology solutions and can present solution and portfolio-level strategy clients at all levels
  • Broad understanding of technology areas such as Application Development (multi-tier, Web, and / or Mobile), Server Operating Systems, Database / Information Management, Application / Data Security, Application Platforms, Application Integration, Enterprise Content Management, Mobility Solutions, Agile Development, and Social Computing
  • Experience deploying emerging technology (e.g., automation, artificial intelligence, facial recognition)
  • Advanced experience analyzing data capabilities along with knowledge and understanding of the digital twin concept
  • Experience communicating to both technical and business audiences
  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering degree or equivalent
  • TOGAF or equivalent Architecture certification
  • Cloud Architecture certifications
  • CISSP, CISSIP-ISSAP or equivalent cybersecurity certification
The following Microsoft Certifications (or equivalent) would be considered an asset:
  • AZ-305: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • AZ-500: Microsoft Azure Security Technologies
  • The following AWS Certifications (or equivalent) would be considered an asset:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty
