Our client has been in business for over 60 years and have 9000 employees located in 19 counties. This is a newly created role playing a strategic partner with the management team in Mississauga. The role will recommend, implement, and manage various company-wide HR initiatives.

  • Compensation: 110-120k +
General Human Resources 

Talent Management
  • Partner with Leaders to ensure the Talent Management process is viewed as a positive tool to aid in the growth of the employee’s career
  • Ensure a consistent and effective employee review process
  • Partner with leaders to support individual development plans and participate in the succession planning discussion
  • Research and identify HR and Development best practices to introduce to the team
  • Review and provide recommendations regarding compensation
  • Liaise with payroll to resolve employees’ payroll and benefit issues
  • Identify relevant industry trends, salary surveys and make recommendations with respect to participation
  • Participate in approved salary surveys as needed
Talent Development
  • Develop local training and leadership development programs
  • Identify learning gaps with team members and leaders, provide recommended options
  • One on one Leadership coaching i.e., Having difficult conversations, development discussions
  • Provide ongoing follow up on leadership development
Talent Engagement
  • Lead the Employee Engagement Process, including facilitation discussions, action planning and implementation
Talent Acquisitions
  • Partner with the talent acquisitions team to ensure vacancies are filled quickly and with clear understanding of the culture within Martin Brower
  • Develop a workforce plan with Operations to ensure the DC has appropriate staffing levels and skill set needed for the success of the business
  • Ensure new employees have a positive onboarding experience, complete paperwork as required
  • Coach leaders on what successful onboarding looks like, introduce a 30,60, 90-day review.
Labour Relations
Contract Negotiations/Administration
  • Conduct research for negotiations preparation
  • Lead Management discussion in preparation for negotiations
  • Be an active member of the negotiating team with the intent to grow to lead negotiations
  • Provide advice to the supervisors and managers on the interpretation & administration of the Collective Agreement.
Labour/Management Meetings
  • Co-Lead discussions with Management
  • Actively participate in discussion and determining mutually solutions
  • Ensure actions are followed though and research proactive ideas for future discussions.

Employee Relations
Employee Ombudsman
  • Provide an impartial forum for employees to raise issues (that they may not want to discuss with their supervisor)
  • Facilitate resolution of issues before they become grievances
Diversity Equity and Inclusion
  • Activity communicates, demonstrate, and talk about DEI
  • Recommend programs and actions to ensure our DC is inclusive
  • Conduct training as needed to all employees
  • Research inclusivity programs and provide recommendations on how to implement within the DC
  • Partner with DC management to ensure that communication of relevant corporate information is disseminated in a timely and consistent manner
  • Develop proactive communications plans that will positively impact the DC
Policies & Procedures
  • Train leaders on required procedures and ensure accountability is understood
  • Provide interpretation as required and monitor compliance
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 7- 10 years related experience within a unionized environment
  • Strong work ethic, results driven
  • Focus on developing leaders and build strong team
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong relationship building and engaging teams
  • Strategic thinker and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • High initiative, self-motivator, and strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely reports
  • Intermediate computer software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
