In 1975, founder and Chairman of the Board, David Aplin, set out to fill the hiring void for mid-level professionals in Western Canada by starting his consulting firm. “I grew up in a family that always had small businesses,” says Dave. Moving his family from Ontario to Alberta and looking for work, Dave reflects, “It became evident that there weren’t a lot of mid-level recruiting companies in Edmonton in ’75, so we decided to start one.”
After making a few placements and adding 3 recruiters to the Aplin team by the end of year one, Dave knew he wanted to build something special. To do that, a unique culture was needed to succeed. "Right from the get-go we tried to make it feel like a family business, and it is a family business," says Dave.
The successor to his father David, Jeff Aplin assumed leadership in 2010 as Chief Operating Officer, and as President in 2011. Today, Jeff continues to build on the tradition of excellence from his family roots by providing Aplin's clients with the strongest talent and providing Aplin's candidates with exceptional career opportunities. "Recruiting is one of the few businesses where there is a triple win. There is a moment when there is a positive burst of energy that comes from someone accepting a new job, an employer who is adding new talent and us being able to help someone find their passion," says Jeff.
